Coming up on August 27th, IRG will be providing communications support for the Colorado CF Cycle for Life. We are looking for volunteers to work at the aid stations along the routes, and at the start/finish line. All you need is an amateur license and a mobile/portable 2M radio. This is a morning event, starting at 7AM and lasting about 5-6 hours. If you’d like to volunteer, please contact KEØSJ – Bob.
Mark your calendars for Saturday, July 9th — it’s the Pikes Peak Megafest 2016. Intermountain Repeater Group will have a table there, so stop by and say hello. Who knows what sort of antique radio treasures you might find?
On June 12th, several members of Intermountain Repeater Group helped out with the Mt. Evans Ascent foot race, providing radio communication throughout the race. Our club members were stationed at the starting line at Echo Lake campground, at the summit, and at the aid stations along the course. Volunteering this year were Bob – KEØSJ, Chris – WØCLF, Robert – NØCFM, Tim – KDØMEX and his wife Jennifer, Bill – KIØFV, Tony – WØSBS, Ken – KDØLZB and his wife Betty, and Jed – KDØYMG. A big thank-you goes to all who helped out.
It was a bit on the cool side on the mountain today, but the weather cooperated until very late in the race, when the summit experienced rain, hail, and snow.
IRG would also like to thank the race organizers, Alpine Rescue, other volunteers, and of course all the runners, for making this year’s run another great event!
Intermountain Repeater Group is looking for volunteers to help out at the Mt. Evans Ascent Foot Race coming up on June 12th. Our club operates a portable repeater at the summit, and we have radio operators at the starting line and each aid station providing communication with the race organizers about the progress of the race, and any situations which arise during the course of the race.
If you would like to volunteer to help out, please contact our club President, Bob – KE0SJ. You can often catch Bob on the 145.280 repeater, especially during our Sunday Night Net, or, you can use our handy contact form.
We recommend that operators have a good mobile 2M radio for this event; HT rigs at 5W can be inadequate to hit the repeater in the mountain terrain.
Our 2M repeater on Centennial Cone is now back in operation. Bob – KE0SJ braved the elements and made a few trips up to the site, and got it repaired. Our thanks to Bob for his tireless efforts here.
Our 2M repeater at 145.280MHz is currently down. As far as we can tell, everything on it is functional, except for the transmitter, but we don’t know why it’s out. With 2 feet of snow on the ground, and more on the way, we won’t be able to get to the radio shack at the Centennial Cone site in the near future, so we currently have no ETA on when it’ll be back.
Until the 280 is running again, we’ll be using the 145.475 machine for our Sunday Night Net.
Intermountain Repeater Group will have a table at the upcoming ARA Swapfest on Sunday, February 7th, at the Adams County Fairgrounds. 9755 Henderson Road, in Brighton. Doors open at 9AM. Please stop by and see us.
