We regret to report the passing of Bill Hamilton – KUØE, on March 8th, 2026.
Bill was a very active ham, first licensed in 1955, and a founding member of the Intermountain Repeater Group, in 1990. He was well known in the Denver area as a regular presence on the “280”, and on the “145”. As a Volunteer Examiner, and an Elmer, he helped many new hams get on the air.
After serving in the Navy, Bill worked in aviation at several major airports in the U.S., finally landing at Stapleton Airport in Denver, in 1968, and continuing with opening Denver International. His lifelong involvement with aviation included membership in the Commerative Air Force, Mile High Wing, and the Texas Raiders. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, hiking, camping, and in general being in the great outdoors.
We all remember Bill not only from ragchewing on the repeater, but also from the Lunch Bunch, and every hamfest. He was famous for timing out the repeater on the Sunday Night Net.
We currently have no information on a memorial service for Bill. We do know that his daughter will be placing his radio gear on consignment at Ham Radio Outlet, Denver. There will be a joint memorial service for Bill, and his late wife Shari – KDØLLR, at a later date.
